The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded more than $1 billion in grants meant to support its five-point opioid strategy combat the opioid crisis.

As part of this plan, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded more than $396 million to combat the opioid crisis. The investments will enable HRSA-funded community health centers, academic institutions and rural organizations to expand access to integrated substance use disorder and mental health services.

$352 million was awarded 1,232 community health centers in the United States to increase access to substance use disorder and mental health services through the Expanding Access to Quality Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health Services.

$12.9 million was awarded to 43 community health centers in Ohio, including Neighborhood Family Practice (NFP). NFP received $285,000 to expand access to quality substance use disorder and behavioral health services.
