NFP recently received a grant in the amount of $4,750 from the Ohio Association of Community Health Centers (OACHC) and Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield to support COVID-19 testing.

NFP is currently conducting COVID-19 testing (at no cost to those tested) at its W. 117th and Detroit Shoreway community health centers. With COVID cases rising across Ohio, NFP will use the funds to support a community testing coordinator who will work with other community health centers, the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, the Cleveland Health Department and local hospitals to coordinate community testing efforts including dates and locations to prevent overlap and ensure easy access.

“During the pandemic, Ohio’s community health centers have been on the front lines protecting and providing health care to our patients, staff and communities,” says Jean Polster, RN, MS, NFP’s president and chief executive officer. “Keeping everyone safe is top priority. This allocation of funds to support testing is crucial to ensuring our health centers remain a ‘safe place for safe care’.”

NFP is one of 20 community health centers in Ohio to receive grant funds.

About Ohio Association of Community Health Centers
OACHC is a not-for-profit membership association supporting Ohio’s 56 Community health centers across 400+ locations, including multiple mobile units, in 71 of Ohio’s 88 counties. Also known as Federally Qualified Health Centers and FQHC Look-Alikes, Community health centers are non-profit health care providers that deliver affordable, high-quality and comprehensive primary care to medically underserved populations, regardless of insurance status. They provide integrated whole person care, oftentimes providing onsite dental, behavioral, pharmacy, vision and other needed supplemental services under one roof. While each is distinct, they share one common purpose: to provide primary health care services that are coordinated, culturally and linguistically competent and community directed.
