Our Patient Commitment

At Neighborhood Family Practice (NFP), our commitment is to ensure that every patient and our community neighbors have access to high-quality health care and the ability to make informed decisions about their health care.

Midwifery Service

Throughout time, midwives have been the traditional care providers for mothers and infants, but today at NFP, our midwives offer a full range of primary care services for individuals of all ages and stages of life from adolescence through menopause.

Neighborhood Family Practice Midwives

Our philosophy of care centers around shared decision making. You know your body and your life best. We are here to help guide you to achieving your best health and best outcomes. We want to be your partner and provide resources and connections to help you achieve your health goals.

All NFP certified nurse midwives are university-trained experts in providing care for individuals, including normal pregnancy and birth. They are certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board and the American College of Nurse Midwives, have completed further education in midwifery and other areas of healthcare, and are licensed in the state of Ohio. NFP nurse midwives work in partnership with obstetrician-gynecologists or family practice physicians to ensure your care is coordinated and of the highest level.

Benefits of having an NFP nurse midwife as your health care provider include:
  • Family planning and birth control services
  • All female-identifying providers

Lactation Services

Neighborhood Family Practice (NFP) offers a full range of lactation/breastfeeding support services for individuals and families both during and after pregnancy.

Our lactation team is here to provide education and support related to:

  • Latching and positioning techniques for effective and comfortable feeding
  • Low supply or oversupply of milk
  • Pain related to breastfeeding
  • Breast engorgement & massage techniques
  • Infant weight concerns
  • Assessment of ankyloglossia (Tongue tie) and frenotomy services
  • Team-based lactation support is critical to assisting families who desire to breastfeed. At NFP, we provide lactation support during our newborn visits so the families who desire to breastfeed get off to a strong start and meet their goals.
  • NFP is committed to supporting families in meeting their infant feeding goals. Nationally, most families attempt to breastfeed in the hospital but struggle to continue when they are home. NFP provider lactation support during the time just after the baby’s birth and beyond supports families as they navigate the experience of feeding human milk.
  • Free Breastfeeding Basics classes every other month to start the conversation about breastfeeding before delivery. Research shows this type of support, coupled with support just after a baby’s birth (postpartum) is crucial in helping families meet their infant feeding goals.

The support we provide is not about pressuring people to breastfeed. It gives families enough information and options to make an informed decision about how they want to feed their infants. *Please note, supply of baby formula may fluctuate.
